ABOUT THE COMPANY Certum Legal Solutions (CLS) is a pioneering legal managed services organization (MSO) that supports mass-tort and single-event personal injury law firms. We provide the operational infrastructure, technology, and back-office solutions that allow the firms on our platform to grow and scale while focusing on delivering industry-leading results for their clients. We are building a proprietary, AI-native system that will transform every dimension of how CLS and its platform firms operate. This system encompasses AI-powered agents to manage end-to-end workflows throughout the lifecycle of mass-tort and single-event personal-injury litigation matters, including back-office support functions such as HR, accounting and finance, and IT. This is a greenfield build on a modern stack, designed from Day 1 to be extensible and, eventually, productized for the broader legal services market. ABOUT THE ROLE The DevOps/Infrastructure Engineer owns the reliability, security, and deployment infrastructure that keeps CLS’s infrastructure running at production scale. This is a regulated environment (HIPAA-compliant, multi-tenant, processing sensitive client data), which means the infrastructure must be engineered accordingly. You will own CI/CD pipelines, environment management, monitoring and alerting, disaster recovery, and cost optimization across the AWS footprint. This role is critical to enabling the engineering team to ship with confidence and the platform to operate with the reliability production systems demand. WHAT YOU WILL BUILD CI/CD pipelines for all platform services: automated testing gates, environment promotion, zero-downtime deployments Infrastructure-as-code for the full AWS footprint: RDS, ECS/EKS, Lambda, S3, ElastiCache, CloudWatch, IAM Monitoring and observability: CloudWatch dashboards, X-Ray distributed tracing, latency SLA alerting, error rate thresholds Security and compliance infrastructure: HIPAA technical safeguards, multi-tenant data isolation, CloudTrail 7-year audit retention, encryption at rest and in transit Disaster recovery and business continuity: RTO/RPO targets, backup verification, failover runbooks Cost optimization: right-sizing, reserved capacity planning, cost attribution by service and workstream RESPONSIBILITIES Own all infrastructure architecture and deployment tooling decisions Build and maintain the full CI/CD pipeline from commit to production Ensure HIPAA technical safeguard compliance across all infrastructure layers Partner with the Lead Backend Engineer on AWS service selection and architecture review Establish on-call protocols, incident response runbooks, and SLA monitoring Manage AWS account security: IAM policies, VPC configuration, secrets management Support the engineering team with local development environment tooling and debugging REQUIRED SKILLS 5–8 years of DevOps or infrastructure engineering experience Deep AWS expertise: RDS, ECS or EKS, Lambda, S3, ElastiCache, CloudWatch, IAM, VPC Infrastructure-as-code: Terraform or AWS CDK in production environments CI/CD: GitHub Actions, AWS CodePipeline, or equivalent, including automated test gates Docker and container orchestration at production scale Security fundamentals: encryption, IAM least-privilege, secrets management (AWS Secrets Manager or equivalent) Monitoring and observability: centralized logging, tracing, and alerting at scale PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS HIPAA-compliant infrastructure experience (healthcare or legal tech strongly preferred) AWS certifications (Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer, or Security Specialty) Multi-tenant SaaS infrastructure architecture SOC 2 compliance implementation Real-time audio or telephony infrastructure experience PAY RANGE AND COMPENSATION PACKAGE Base Salary: $150,000 – $200,000 per year, based on experience and skillset Deliverables and KPI based bonuses Medical, dental, and vision insurance Unlimited PTO plus company holidays 401(k) eligibility upon start with employer matching Hybrid work schedule EQUAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY STATEMENT Certum Legal Solutions is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
