Description
DevOps Engineer 📍 Remote (United States) · 💰 $140–160k base + bonus & equity About Clever Clever is a venture-backed real estate technology company changing how people buy, sell, and manage real estate. We've built the leading online education platform in real estate — a 4.9 Trustpilot rating across 3,800+ reviews and over $210M saved in consumer real estate fees. The Role We're hiring a DevOps Engineer to own and improve the infrastructure, deployments, and operational foundation that keep Clever reliable, secure, and resilient. The goal is simple: make our infrastructure boring in the best possible way — releases that are observable and recoverable, production issues that are easy to detect and diagnose, and engineers who spend less time fighting environments and deployments. This is not a ticket-response ops role. We're looking for an engineer who takes ownership, spots recurring friction, prioritizes the highest-leverage fixes, and drives them through to completion — someone who can reason about production systems, write code and automation, work near the backend when needed, and partner across Engineering, Product, and Operations without slowing the company down. What you'll do Own and improve the infrastructure and operational systems behind our engineering teams Build safer deployment paths with automated health checks, rollback plans, and clear release visibility Strengthen observability and incident response — alerts, dashboards, runbooks, escalation, and post-incident follow-up Lead infrastructure migrations and production cutovers across Heroku, AWS, ECS, RDS, networking, and DNS Support SOC2 and security readiness through better access controls, secrets management, and repeatable practices What we're looking for 5+ years in DevOps, SRE, infrastructure, platform, or backend engineering, with hands-on production infrastructure ownership Strong cloud experience, especially AWS (ECS, RDS, IAM, networking, DNS) Deep CI/CD, deployment automation, rollback, and release-safety experience Strong observability and incident-response background Comfortable reading backend code and making well-scoped changes Solid security and access-management judgment, with a strong ownership mindset and bias toward action Nice to have: SOC2, Datadog, Sentry, GitHub Actions, Terraform, Cloudflare, Tailscale, Docker, Django/Python, TypeScript What we offer Comprehensive medical/dental/vision/life · 18 days PTO + 10 holidays · paid sabbaticals · 401(k) · 6–12 weeks parental leave · WFH stipend · professional development budget · wellness benefits
