Description
VP, Infrastructure & Security Reporting Line: Chief Information Officer (CIO) Work Environment: Remote Role Overview A high-growth, private-equity-backed financial services and corporate brokerage platform is seeking a VP, Infrastructure & Security . In this role, you will serve as the chief operating executive overseeing IT foundations, security systems deployment, and corporate service desk delivery. The organization spans a highly distributed network of acquired business units, totaling roughly 2,200 employees across more than 100 decentralized offices. As an executive leader of leaders, you will report directly to the CIO, overseeing a leadership tier that includes the Director of Infrastructure and service desk managers. You hold total accountability for the structural system these teams run within—owning the operational blueprint, technology standards, vendor portfolio, and enterprise technology budget. You will operate in tandem with the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO). While the CISO dictates risk policy, defense strategy, and governance, your mandate is to turn those strategies into deployed, engineered realities across the entire technology estate. The Objective: Shift the organization from a reactive, firefighting IT posture to an automated, standardized, and financially disciplined operating model that safeguards enterprise data and establishes IT as a highly trusted business driver. Core Mandate This position focuses on architecture, governance, and system design, while your direct reports manage daily operations. Fiscal Oversight: Direct the consolidated technology budget for the entire multi-location ecosystem, including cloud infrastructure, networking, endpoints, telecom, and security software portfolios. Operational Blueprinting: Establish and enforce the unified technical frameworks and service standards that engineering and support teams execute against. Executive Communication: Serve as the definitive technical voice and escalation point for regional directors, managing partners, and the executive leadership team. Leadership Development: Coach and mentor the Director-level tier, ensuring strong operational execution and robust succession planning. M&A & Strategy Collaboration: Advise the CIO on corporate investment planning, technical due diligence for mergers and acquisitions, and board-level reporting. Primary Responsibilities Infrastructure Architecture & Operational Governance Dictate the multi-year lifecycle strategy for all corporate technology, establishing clear parameters for what systems are adopted, standardized, or phased out. Audit and evaluate current deployments across Microsoft 365, Azure, Entra ID, Intune, networking, and telecom, converting gaps into a prioritized, fully funded modernization roadmap. Supervise global capacity planning across cloud compute, physical storage, data networks, and engineering staff allocations. Build a centralized asset management inventory to serve as the definitive source of truth across all corporate and acquired environments. Define the baseline metrics for uptime, configuration integrity, vulnerability patching, and monitoring. Financial Engineering (FinOps) & Vendor Governance Consolidate all regional IT expenditures into a central budget, establishing a strict FinOps culture focused on cloud optimization, software license efficiency, and strict cost accountability. Oversee the vendor ecosystem and contract lifecycle for all infrastructure and security suppliers, handling contract renegotiations, consolidations, or terminations. Partner with regional stakeholders to systematically phase out local managed service providers (MSPs), migrating acquired entities to centralized corporate services. Collaborate with the CISO to audit software tools, identifying overlaps and redundancies to streamline the security technology stack. Modern Delivery, DevOps, & Intelligent Automation Accelerate the deployment velocity of IT infrastructure, establishing aggressive SLAs for user onboarding, permissions provisioning, and systems configuration. Embed platform engineering and DevOps methodologies into the department, incorporating infrastructure-as-code (IaC), CI/CD workflows, automated device provisioning, and programmatic identity management. Champion the deployment of AI-driven workflows within support desk and engineering teams to handle automated issue resolution and smart system alerts. Security Engineering Execution Lead the physical engineering and deployment of security defenses across corporate infrastructure, endpoints, identities, and cloud layers (including MFA, zero-trust configuration, privileged access controls, and patch deployments). Enforce security baselines across a fragmented network of legacy systems and acquired offices, translating governance policies into measurable technical reality. Serve as the technical lead during security events, integrating with the CISO’s incident response structure and providing technical documentation for audits and cyber insurance renewals. Ensure the technical infrastructure adheres to regulatory mandates, including NYDFS Part 500, GLBA, HIPAA, and NIST CSF 2.0. Service Desk Maturation Take full accountability for technical support outcomes, optimizing key metrics such as ticket resolution speeds, customer satisfaction scores, and backlog volumes. Evolve the help desk from a basic ticketing center into a mature IT Service Management (ITSM) function covering problem management, change controls, and structured service catalogs. Corporate Integration & Asset Discovery Act as the primary technical liaison to newly acquired businesses, communicating the business case and security requirements behind enterprise IT migration. Refine a scalable, repeatable M&A integration playbook that guides technical due diligence, post-merger risk assessment, network standardization, and telephony upgrades. Locate and decommission unapproved local servers, shadow IT applications, unmanaged devices, and hidden software subscriptions. Business Continuity & Resiliency Govern all disaster recovery (DR), data backup, and business continuity programs across the company. Orchestrate routine technical DR testing and co-facilitate cyber crisis simulations with the CISO, providing clear, business-focused updates during major incidents. Translate complex technical, security, and performance risks into financial and operational terms for non-technical executive stakeholders. Profile Requirements 15+ years of progressive leadership within IT infrastructure, cloud engineering, or security operations roles. 8+ years acting as a manager of managers, with a proven history of developing Director-level direct reports. Direct experience owning and optimizing an enterprise-level technology P&L using FinOps principles. A background working in highly distributed, acquisition-heavy, or multi-tenant corporate environments. Deep technical mastery of Microsoft enterprise ecosystems (Azure, Microsoft 365, Intune, Entra ID, and identity lifecycle platforms). Sufficiently strong security engineering roots to lead technical defense teams credibly and partner effectively with a governance-focused CISO. Proven success embedding DevOps principles, automation scripts, or AI tooling into traditional infrastructure teams. Extensive experience maturing corporate service desks, structuring DR plans, and leading technical incident responses. Strong commercial acumen for managing major vendor relationships and presenting risk landscapes to senior executives. Desired Qualifications Background in private-equity-backed organizations, financial services, insurance brokerages, or highly regulated industries (PE experience heavily favored). Direct, hands-on experience meeting compliance demands for frameworks like NYDFS Part 500, GLBA, HIPAA, SOC 2, or NIST CSF. Experience managing technical integrations and post-acquisition remediation for corporate mergers. Familiarity with enterprise platforms such as Microsoft Defender, Sentinel, CrowdStrike, Zscaler, Tenable, or advanced SIEM/SOAR software.
