Job Title: Platform Engineer Department: Platform Technology Location: Manchester – Hybrid, 2 days/week onsite at Steam Packet House, 72–76 Cross Street, Manchester M2 4JG Reporting To: Head of Engineering – Platform Overview Lorien is looking for a Platform Engineer to help build, operate, and improve the platforms underpinning their engineering teams. The role suits someone keen to work across infrastructure, automation, and delivery tooling, while deepening their DevOps and platform engineering expertise. You'll work closely with platform engineers and product teams to improve how software is built, deployed, and operated — reducing friction and increasing reliability across a hybrid AWS and on-premises VMware environment. Tech Environment .NET core application platform, WebAPI, WCF, RabbitMQ, MySQL, MongoDB, Terraform, Ansible, Python, Jenkins, Argo CD (GitOps), Docker, Kubernetes. Key Responsibilities Build and maintain infrastructure using Terraform, Ansible, and Python Support and improve CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows Operate and enhance Kubernetes environments Troubleshoot issues and improve reliability alongside engineering teams Contribute to platform standards, documentation, and shared tooling Automate repetitive tasks and remove manual processes Essential Experience Platform/OS engineering background (Linux and Windows experience preferred) BSc in Computer Science or equivalent industry experience Configuration management experience (Ansible, Terraform) Containerisation experience (Docker and Kubernetes) Strong AWS Platform Engineering skills (EC2, S3, IAM, VPC/network configuration) Ability to automate complex operational processes using industry-standard tools In-depth understanding of cloud environments and cloud security Desirable iGaming, betting, or real-time gaming industry experience Microservices/event-driven architecture experience Familiarity with RabbitMQ, Kafka, Redis, or MariaDB/MySQL Monitoring/observability tools (Grafana, Datadog) FinOps/cloud cost management understanding
