Senior DevOps Engineer

Position: Permanent, full-time Work environment: Remote Location: Canada Salary: Up to $160,000 base salary + performance bonus + comprehensive benefits Position Overview Hammehr invites applications for a Senior DevOps Engineer on behalf of a growing Canadian technology company building modern financial technology solutions used by businesses across North America. This is a hands-on senior engineering role focused on cloud infrastructure, automation, platform engineering, and reliability. You will work closely with software developers and technical stakeholders to build scalable infrastructure, improve deployment processes, and create tools and services that help engineering teams move faster and operate more effectively. The successful candidate will bring strong AWS expertise, a passion for automation, and a platform mindset. You'll have significant influence over infrastructure decisions while helping shape the future of a modern cloud-native environment. What You'll Do Design, build, and maintain cloud infrastructure and infrastructure-as-code solutions within AWS Develop internal platform capabilities that enable engineering teams to provision environments and deploy applications efficiently Build, optimize, and support CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes Monitor infrastructure and application performance, implementing improvements that increase reliability and scalability Create dashboards, alerts, and observability solutions that provide visibility into system health Collaborate with software engineers to improve development workflows, deployment processes, and operational practices Support containerized workloads and cloud-native services across production and non-production environments Drive cloud cost optimization, security best practices, and operational excellence initiatives Participate in technical planning, incident response, and continuous improvement efforts Basic Qualifications 5+ years of experience in DevOps, Platform Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering, or Cloud Infrastructure roles Strong hands-on experience with AWS in production environments Experience with Infrastructure as Code, preferably CloudFormation Experience with Docker and container-based workloads Experience building and supporting CI/CD pipelines Experience with monitoring, observability, and performance analysis tools Proficiency with Python or similar scripting languages Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills Preferred Qualifications AWS certifications Experience with Grafana, OpenTelemetry, CloudWatch, or similar observability platforms Experience supporting serverless architectures Experience working in high-growth SaaS or technology environments Familiarity with compliance-focused or security-conscious cloud environments The Challenges Scaling and evolving a cloud platform while maintaining reliability, performance, and security Building reusable platform capabilities that improve developer productivity Balancing speed, stability, and operational excellence in a fast-moving environment Your Impact Build the infrastructure foundation that powers a growing technology platform Enable software engineers to deliver products faster through automation and self-service tooling Improve system reliability, scalability, and operational maturity across the organization Help shape the future of the company's cloud and platform engineering capabilities
