Platform Engineer

Every role at Polymodal is dual: founding platform builder first, with a infra and platform engineering edge that shapes everything we build. As agents take on more execution, the systems coordinating this combined workforce must be rock-solid. You'll build the production backbone that makes trust possible. Stack: Rust-heavy services, Cloudflare, Google Cloud / BigQuery-class data systems, desktop apps with web tech, event-driven systems, tunnels/networking, observability, and cloud / gateway / on-prem deployment paths. What you'll own Push from hosted service to adaptive edge fabric across cloud, gateway, and on-prem constraints. Build runtime boundaries where agents act, fail, recover, and prove work while humans stay in control. Design CI/CD that takes changes from commit to production. Define infrastructure as code so environments are reproducible and reviewable. Build internal tooling and self-service so a small team ships fast. Set the infrastructure standards the rest of engineering inherits. About you You care about systems that are simple to ship, easy to observe, and hard to break. You think across product, infra, security, networking, and deployment from day one. You stay calm around ambiguity, incidents, and imperfect constraints. You reach for automation before process. Must-haves You use AI as part of your own engineering loop, not as a side tool. Built and operated production cloud infrastructure other engineers depended on. Comfort with Cloudflare or similar edge/serverless platforms. Nice-to-haves Experience standing up SOC 2 or ISO 27001 groundwork as a company starts selling to teams. Notable GitHub work or hard side projects. About Polymodal Polymodal is a funded pre-seed company building the operating layer for agent-executed organizations.
