Job Description Crop to Crop resumes are accepted DHHS Information Technology Division (ITD) is seeking a skilled Application Systems Python Developer to design, develop, and support data pipelines, dashboards, integrations, and migration processes across enterprise systems within the Office of the NC Chief Medical Examiner. This role plays a key part in moving data between legacy and modern platforms, ensuring data quality, and enabling analytics and automation through Python and Power BI. Key Responsibilities Develop and maintain data migration scripts, ETL pipelines, and automation workflows using Python Design, build, and optimize data models for reporting and analytics Create interactive dashboards, reports, and analytics solutions using Power BI Perform data extraction, transformation, validation, and loading between databases, APIs, and enterprise systems Optimize data processes for speed, reliability, and scalability Work with SQL queries, stored procedures, and database objects to support migration and reporting Integrate data from multiple sources, including cloud apps, on premises systems, and flat files Collaborate with business teams to define reporting needs and translate them into technical solutions Analyze data quality issues, reconcile datasets, and implement best practices for data integrity Implement automation for recurring data tasks and reporting workflows Maintain documentation for data processes, source mappings, and migration steps Participate in architecture, design, and planning sessions for data modernization projects Required Skills & Experience Strong hands on experience with Python Proficiency with Power BI Experience designing and executing data migration or data conversion projects Strong SQL skills and experience working with relational databases (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Oracle, MySQL, Ingres) Understanding of data governance, security, and compliance requirements Strong troubleshooting ability and attention to detail Preferred Qualifications Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform) Experience with Java development Experience with version control (Git/Subversion) and CI/CD pipelines Knowledge of Power BI administration, workspaces, gateways, and deployment strategies Experience with large-scale migration or modernization initiatives Required Skills Strong hands on experience with Python Proficiency with Power BI Strong SQL skills and experience working with relational databases (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Oracle, MySQL, Ingres) Senior level experience writing optimized SQL queries and analyzing existing SQL queries for performance improvements Solid understanding of SOAP/REST APIs, backend architecture, and microservices Experience designing and executing data migration or data conversion projects Understanding of data governance, security, and compliance requirements Experience developing/maintaining applications Zope application server Experience developing/maintaining Plone CMS applications Desired Skills Familiarity with legacy system migration projects Experience with large-scale migration or modernization initiatives Experience with Java development Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform) Knowledge of Power BI administration, workspaces, gateways, and deployment strategies Experience with version control (Git/Subversion) and CI/CD pipelines Experience with Perl for scripting, system utilities, or legacy app maintenance
