Description

Infrastructure Engineer Location: San Francisco, CA — 5 days/week onsite Compensation: $150K–$175K base + equity Stage: Series A | $40M raised | <10 employees About the Company We're partnering with a well-funded, early-stage technology company modernizing the metal recycling industry. The company combines AI, computer vision, hardware, edge computing, and cloud software to help industrial operators identify, price, sort, and reuse scrap metal more effectively. With $40M in Series A funding and fewer than 10 employees, this is an opportunity to join an extremely early team with significant ownership and upside. The Role We're looking for an Infrastructure Engineer to become the company's first dedicated infrastructure hire. You'll own the infrastructure supporting its cloud platform, GPU workloads, and distributed edge-device fleet as deployments scale across hundreds of customer locations. What You'll Do Own production infrastructure across GCP Build and maintain Terraform-based infrastructure Own CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation Implement logging, metrics, alerts, and incident response Improve platform reliability, scalability, and cost efficiency Support GPU workload observability and edge-device fleet automation Establish infrastructure best practices as the company grows What We're Looking For Ideally 3+ years of engineering experience Experience owning and scaling production infrastructure Strong AWS and/or GCP experience Terraform, Docker, Linux, and CI/CD experience Hands-on observability and monitoring experience Production incident response or on-call experience Strong engineering fundamentals Comfortable operating independently with minimal oversight Experience with Python, PostgreSQL, FastAPI, Cloud SQL, Ansible, Tailscale, GPU infrastructure, or edge devices is a plus. Ideal Background Strong candidates may come from high-caliber technology companies, major cloud providers, infrastructure/platform teams, or VC-backed startups. The ideal profile combines strong infrastructure fundamentals with a desire for significantly more autonomy and ownership in an early-stage environment.
