Senior Backend Engineer (Python & AI) Gothenburg | Hybrid | Permanent I'm currently partnering with an ambitious, AI-native software company looking to hire a Senior Backend Engineer to join a highly talented engineering team. You'll work across backend systems, data infrastructure, platform architecture, APIs, and AI-driven product initiatives, helping shape both the technical roadmap and the future of the product. What You'll Be Working On Designing and building scalable backend systems used by thousands of end users. Developing APIs and platform services that support business-critical applications. Building and optimising data pipelines and distributed systems. Improving platform performance, scalability, observability, and reliability. Contributing to the adoption and integration of modern AI technologies. Collaborating closely with Product and Engineering teams to deliver meaningful customer value. Exploring how emerging technologies can be used to create new product capabilities. What We're Looking For Strong commercial experience with Python. Experience building and scaling modern SaaS or software products. Strong understanding of APIs, cloud platforms, distributed systems, and databases. Experience with data-intensive applications and backend services. Exposure to AI, machine learning, LLMs, RAG architectures, or related technologies is advantageous. Product-minded approach to engineering. Strong ownership mentality and ability to work autonomously. Comfortable operating within a fast-moving, growth-stage environment. Curious, ambitious, and motivated by solving complex problems. Tech Environment The current engineering environment includes: Python, FastAPI, Flask PostgreSQL and Data Pipelines Kubernetes, ArgoCD and cloud-platform technologies LLMs, RAG, Vector Databases and Re-ranking Systems TypeScript and React across parts of the wider platform The team doesn't hire based on keywords alone.
