The Tucson Police Department is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Data Engineers to support the development, integration, and maintenance of data systems used in public safety operations. These are Full-Time roles that require hands-on experience with real-world systems in a collaborative, mission-driven environment. About the Roles The Data Engineer will work closely with technical and operational staff to ensure the City’s data systems are accurate, secure, and effective. These positions provide the opportunity to contribute directly to impactful projects that support public safety and community trust. Responsibilities Conduct data validation to ensure accuracy, consistency, and integrity across systems, reports, and databases. Collaborate cross-functionally within a team-focused environment to achieve shared goals. Participate in technical discussions by offering insights, identifying areas for improvement, and supporting process enhancements. Assist with the development, integration, and maintenance of data pipelines and tools. Develop and maintain clear, organized documentation for systems, tools, and internal processes. Support coding efforts by writing, reviewing, and testing to ensure quality and reliability. Demonstrate adaptability by responding to evolving priorities and taking on additional responsibilities as needed. Qualifications Familiarity with SQL and/or NoSQL databases. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Interest in public service and a desire to apply technical skills in a real-world environment. Experience with Python, REST APIs, or data integration tools (greater proficiency expected for the Data Engineer role).
