Job Title: Senior Backend Developer – Java & Cloud Skills : Java, Spring boot, microservices, AWS, Codex, AI/ML-enabled development or modern developer tools Location: Brisbane Employment Type: Full-Time Experience : 8 + yrs Role Overview We are seeking an experienced Senior Backend Developer with strong expertise in building scalable, cloud-native, and microservices-based applications . The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in backend development using Java and modern frameworks, along with exposure to distributed systems, event-driven architectures, and cloud platforms. You will play a key role in designing, developing, and optimizing backend services for high-performance applications. Key Responsibilities Backend Development Design, develop, and maintain robust backend services and APIs using Java (Spring Boot) Build and deploy microservices-based applications with a focus on scalability and reliability Build and use approved AI-assisted engineering tools (Preferable Codex) for API design, code generation, testing, and automated reviews. Write clean, efficient, and reusable code following best practices System Design & Architecture Contribute to system design discussions and assist in defining scalable backend architectures Develop low-level designs (LLD) and support high-level designs where required Implement event-driven and distributed system patterns using tools like Kafka Define and consume RESTful APIs and integration services Cloud & DevOps Work with cloud platforms, primarily AWS , to build and deploy applications Collaborate in implementing CI/CD pipelines and automation processes Support containerization and orchestration using Kubernetes Follow DevOps and cloud-native engineering best practices Performance & Reliability Build systems that are highly scalable, low-latency, and resilient Perform performance tuning, debugging, and optimization of backend services Ensure application security, reliability, and fault tolerance Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement Work closely with frontend developers, architects, QA, and DevOps teams Translate functional and technical requirements into working solutions Participate in code reviews and design discussions Mentorship & Contribution Provide guidance to junior developers and contribute to team knowledge sharing Promote best practices in coding, testing, and documentation Support a culture of continuous improvement and innovation Required Skills & Experience 8–10+ years of experience in backend development Strong hands-on experience in: Java (Spring Boot) Microservices architecture AWS cloud services Apache Kafka (event-driven systems)
