Description
Product Engineer (TypeScript) | London | £120,000 | 3 days on-site - Old Street We're partnering with a seed-funded AI platform helping charities and non-profits run more effectively, think safeguarding, funding applications, bookings, grants, and statutory reporting, for organisations that have historically been underserved by decent software. The engineering team is small by design, currently 10 people, with no daily scrum and no design documents. Everyone ships, everyone thinks about the product, and the work genuinely matters to the people using it: over 1,500 charities and 45 foundations already rely on the platform, and it's powering £55m of charitable funding annually, growing 4x year on year. They're now hiring a Product Engineer to take on real ownership across the stack, someone who wants to be close to the product, close to the users, and trusted to make good decisions without layers of process getting in the way. What you'll be doing Writing front-end and back-end code in JavaScript and TypeScript Shaping architecture for new and existing features, not just implementing to spec Building tooling to support onboarding as more organisations migrate off legacy systems Taking complex features from initial idea through to production and ongoing maintenance Writing tests and documentation, and showcasing your work to the rest of the team What they're looking for Strong commercial JavaScript/TypeScript experience, ideally with some React and ideally some Elasticsearch A classically trained, broad engineer, comfortable moving across frontend, backend and dev ops rather than narrowly specialised Multiple years of experience shipping code and managing complex systems, ideally having taken a product from start to end solo Genuinely product-minded, prioritising getting things right first time over ticking boxes Someone who does their best work with autonomy and accountability, not hand-holding and process Why this one's worth a look Real ownership from day one, this isn't a feature factory with tickets handed down The mission is tangible: the software you write directly increases funding reaching the charity sector Modern JavaScript/TypeScript stack with freedom to shape architecture early Small, low-politics team with high individual trust and responsibility Open to AI tooling as part of your day-to-day workflow, so long as the output holds up The process Fast. This is a 2-stage process made up of a short intro call with the founder, then an in-person technical interview which, if it goes well, will end with an offer. For more information, hit APPLY and I (Sam Barcia) will book in a GMeet with you to answer any questions you may have!
