Java Developer

Location : Glasgow Working : Hybrid (2 times from client ofc) Rate : Open Role- Java Developer Overall purpose of role Excellent hands-on technology skills: Java 8+ Strong knowledge Spring Boot, Spring Experience with shell scripting, Linux. Experience with Databases queries & Store Procedures (SQL Server, Postgres DB). Strong knowledge of API development, web services (e.g. WSDL Soap, Restful) Experience around security principles like: JWT, SSL/TLS. Hands on with TDD: Junits, Mockito, Spring Boot Test. Hands on experience on AWS: IAM, ECS, API Gateway, Lambda, CloudFormation Good experience of containers and orchestration - Docker Proven ability to design and develop enterprise level software solutions using tools and techniques such as Source Control, Build Tools: maven, git, gitlab(CI/CD). Managing APIs of Data Platform & their state of stability. Key Accountabilities Taking business and functional requirements and translating them into technical and functional designs. Producing and maintaining application code. Unit and integration testing of code and providing support to testing cycles ensuring that defects are resolved. All project deliverables must be produced in accordance with governance practices and utilizing QA procedures. Candidate will have an in-depth knowledge of the core java, spring, api development on on-prem & cloud platform with a particular focus on performance tuning. Strong individual contributor Stakeholder Management and Leadership Key stakeholders within the team are the Lead Product Owner, RTB Leads, PM/scrum masters and Technical Leads. Key stakeholders external to the team are the Wealth Enterprise Architects and BAs and architects on other platform or project teams that interface to PBTV. Risk and Control Objective Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Barclays Policies and Policy Standards. Person Specification The role holder must be from strong Computer Engineering background with a good appreciation of the fundamental principles of java technology and other fundamentals. Ability to be forward-thinking and be able to analyze and anticipate project, technology and team solutions to ensure successful project delivery The role holder must have strong time management skills and be able to multi task for demanding workload. The candidate will be educated to degree level or above, preferably in computer science or a closely related discipline. The role holder will have an excellent command of English language with strong written and verbal communications to deliver against our commitment to providing a world class service and drive our dedication to the client experience. Role holder must be Physically present in Glasgow and expected to show in Barclays office Role holder is expected to perform prod support and prod queries during uk hours and able to support UK off hours or weekend releases or production support . Candidate must be part of the on-call support rota Essential Skills/Basic Qualifications: Strong Java, Spring, RDBMS experience 7+ yrs AWS: IAM, ECS, API Gateway, Lambda, Cloudformation Experience in API Development, REST, SOAP, JWT, SSL Proven ability to work under own initiative Experience in Docker, containerization.
