Your work has an impact on the recommendation experience for our customers. This will involve working alongside our machine learning engineers, design leads, product leads, and business leads, helping with everything from the development of tools and platforms to code optimisations and the deployment of the model. This role will have a direct impact on business revenue. The ideal candidate will have solid technical experience with deploying recommender systems and strong business acumen. Key Responsibilities: Design and develop backend services supporting recommendation and discovery scenarios. Integrate machine learning models for personalised ranking and recommendation using microservice architectures. Build and maintain backend applications using Java and Spring Boot. Collaborate with machine learning engineers to support model deployment, serving, and optimisation. Ensure system scalability, reliability, and low-latency performance under high traffic. Document system design decisions and share backend best practices within the team. Work onsite in London, UK. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science or a related field. 3+ years of experience in Java programming and Spring Boot. Experience related to search or recommendation systems, such as ranking, retrieval, or advertising. Experience with microservices architecture and service deployment. Ability to communicate effectively in English. Preferred Qualifications: Experience supporting ML-enabled search systems in production environments. Experience working on high-concurrency or low-latency services. Experience in large internet or consumer-facing technology companies. Familiarity with distributed systems design. Ability to communicate effectively in Chinese. JR101308
