Description

We are adding a Junior Interface Developer to our small team to help us build out the front end of internal tools for a French financial services provider. This role is focused on creating practical, clean, and functional interfaces that help people manage complex money movements and record keeping. We are not interested in flashy animations or experimental design trends: we need someone who can build clear tables, forms, and dashboards that allow a back office team to do their jobs without confusion. About Pixel Systems Pixel Systems is a small, fully remote software agency. We build the tools that businesses actually use to get their work done. We do not build consumer social apps or marketing sites that focus on looks over substance. Instead, we solve messy operational problems. Our clients come to us when their spreadsheets have become too large to manage or when their various software tools refuse to communicate with each other. We replace those headaches with stable databases and clean admin panels. Our approach is simple. We provide fixed quotes, we show our progress every week with live demos, and we hand over everything when we are finished. This includes the code, the documentation, and walkthrough videos so our clients are never left guessing. We use reliable technologies like Node, React, and Postgres because we value stability. As a remote company, we prioritize clear communication and documentation over long meetings. The Role In this role, your primary focus will be the user interface of the systems we build for our client in the financial sector. You will spend your time turning data from APIs into readable, interactive layouts. This involves building forms that validate user input correctly, creating tables that can handle hundreds of rows of financial data, and ensuring that every button and link works exactly as expected. You will work closely with our senior developers to bridge the gap between our databases and the end user. This often means cleaning up existing interface code, fixing layout bugs that only appear on certain screen sizes, and ensuring the interface remains fast even when loading large datasets. Since we are a remote shop, you will spend a good portion of your time documenting your work and recording short videos to show how a new feature functions. What you bring We are looking for someone who is organized and writes code that other people can read easily. Since this is an entry level role, we do not expect you to know everything, but we do expect a strong grasp of the fundamentals and a willingness to ask questions when you get stuck. You should be comfortable with the following: Writing clean HTML and CSS that stays organized as a project grows larger. A basic understanding of JavaScript and how it interacts with the browser. The ability to follow a design closely and ensure that spacing and alignment are consistent. A preference for functional, boring software that works over experimental features that might break. The habit of testing your own work thoroughly before asking for a review. Strong written communication skills: since we are remote, your chat messages and pull request descriptions are your main way of working with the team. An organized approach to your daily tasks and the ability to manage your own schedule. Helpful background While this is a junior position, it is helpful if you have some familiarity with the tools we use every day. We do not require a specific degree, but we do look for people who have practiced with these technologies through personal projects, bootcamps, or internships: Basic experience with React or a similar component based library. Familiarity with Git and GitHub for version control and code reviews. An understanding of how to fetch data from an API and display it. Exposure to CSS frameworks or styling libraries that help maintain consistency. Experience using browser developer tools to debug layout issues or network requests. A general interest in how financial systems or data heavy applications operate. Working at Pixel Systems Working here is different from a typical corporate environment. We have no middle management and very few recurring meetings. We trust our developers to manage their own time and focus on shipping code that meets the client's needs. Because we are a remote team, you can work from wherever you are most productive. This is a permanent, full-time position that offers competitive pay for the current market and seniority level. We value the long term health of our projects. We do not believe in crunch time or staying up all night to meet a deadline. Because we work with fixed prices and clear scopes, we avoid the drama that usually comes with software development. You will have the chance to learn from senior engineers who have been building systems for years and who value teaching as much as they value coding. The work you do here will directly help ops teams and managers at a large financial provider do their jobs more efficiently. Our culture is built on transparency and technical honesty. If a feature is going to take longer than we thought, we tell the client. If a piece of code is getting too complex, we simplify it. We are a small group of people who enjoy the craft of building useful software and who want to do that work without the noise of typical office politics or trendy industry buzzwords. We focus on the basics and we do them well.
