Sr. Software Engineer Location: Sunnyvale, CA (Hybrid Preferred – Remote OK) Duration: 6 months This contract opportunity is with a company seeking a Senior Software Engineer to build cloud-native backend systems that help internal teams operate at scale. The role is centered on Python, modern API development, cloud platforms, data systems, and backend infrastructure, making it a strong fit for engineers who enjoy building reliable production services in a collaborative environment. Contract Duration: 6 Months Required Skills & Experience · 6+ years of software engineering, platform development, or related experience · Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, related field, or equivalent professional experience · Strong Python skills with experience building production-grade services and libraries · Experience designing and building RESTful APIs using modern Python frameworks such as FastAPI or Starlette · Strong experience with relational databases, ORMs such as SQLAlchemy, and schema migration tools such as Alembic · Experience building production data systems, including ETL and data processing workflows · Cloud platform experience in AWS and/or GCP, including services such as S3/GCS, Lambda/Cloud Functions, SQS/Pub-Sub, and managed databases · Experience with Docker and containerized application development · Practical CI/CD experience with regular production deployments · Strong commitment to automated testing, including unit, integration, and end-to-end testing · Strong fundamentals in version control, code reviews, testing, and documentation · Excellent problem-solving, communication, and team collaboration skills · Ability to translate data science needs into scalable platform abstractions Desired Skills & Experience · Kubernetes experience, including EKS or GKE · Infrastructure-as-code familiarity with Terraform, Pulumi, or CloudFormation · Experience integrating LLM APIs such as Azure OpenAI, OpenAI, Anthropic, Vertex AI, or Bedrock into applications · Experience with prompt engineering, token management, and error handling for LLM-enabled applications · Experience with data manipulation and analysis using pandas, NumPy, and SciPy What You Will Be Doing Tech Breakdown · [Estimated 50% Backend APIs and shared service architecture] · [Estimated 25% Cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, and containerization] · [Estimated 25% Data pipelines, database design, and platform support] Daily Responsibilities · [Estimated 85% Hands On] · [Estimated 0% Management Duties] · [Estimated 15% Team Collaboration]
