Senior AI / ML Software Engineer, Hedge Fund, NYC Firm: Top NYC Multi-Strategy Hedge Fund Role: Senior / Staff AI Software Engineer Focus: ML Engineering, AI Research Engineering, Deep Learning, Model Deployment, Production AI Systems Tech Stack: Python, Linux, PyTorch / TensorFlow / JAX, AWS / GCP, Kubernetes, Kafka, ClickHouse, MLOps Location: NYC, 4 days per week in office, relocation available Compensation: ~$200,000-300,000 base + bonus A top NYC hedge fund is building out a central AI engineering team and hiring senior engineers to work on production AI / ML systems used across investment, research and internal engineering workflows. This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who has worked close to the model layer, not just built wrappers around third-party APIs. The team is especially interested in people with experience across areas like: Model training, fine-tuning, deployment or serving Deep learning or multimodal models ML infrastructure, model evaluation or telemetry Retrieval, ranking, recommendation or classification systems Production AI systems used by real users Strong Python, Linux and software engineering fundamentals You would be joining an early team with a lot of ownership, working directly with AI engineering leadership and internal users across the firm. The work will involve building reliable systems around models, data, evaluation, monitoring and deployment. Relevant backgrounds could include ML Engineering, AI Research Engineering, Applied Science, AI Platform, ML Infrastructure, Search, Ranking, Recommendations, LLMs, Multimodal AI or high-quality production software engineering with serious ML exposure. This is not a prompt engineering role, chatbot role or basic RAG demo role. The bar is real model-facing experience, strong engineering judgement and the ability to reason about model quality, data quality, latency, reliability and production trade-offs. Requirements: Strong Python engineering Strong Linux fundamentals Computer Science degree or closely related technical degree Experience building, training, deploying, evaluating or productionising AI / ML systems Ability to explain technical decisions, trade-offs, metrics and production failure modes Comfortable working in NYC 4 days per week Apply now if you would like to hear more.
