AI Engineer (Junior, Mid-Level & Senior) Property & Casualty Insurance Carrier About Our Client James Search Group is partnering with a modern Property & Casualty insurance carrier investing heavily in data science and AI to enhance underwriting, pricing, claims, and enterprise decision-making. The organization blends traditional insurance modeling with modern machine learning and LLM-driven applications to deliver scalable, compliant, and high-impact solutions. Core focus areas include: Pricing & Rating Models: Loss cost modeling, risk segmentation, and rate optimization Underwriting Analytics: Appetite definition, risk scoring, and portfolio management Claims Intelligence: Severity, fraud detection, and cycle-time reduction Enterprise AI & Automation: Platforms supporting analytics, decisioning, and LLM applications About the Role We are hiring AI Engineers across junior, mid-level, and senior profiles to build and productionize models used directly in P&C insurance pricing, underwriting, and claims . This role spans classic machine learning model development , actuarial-style pricing models, and modern LLM-based applications , all within a Git-driven, production engineering environment. Key Responsibilities Develop and maintain classic ML models (e.g., GLMs, GBMs, Random Forests, XGBoost) for P&C use cases Build and support pricing and rating models , including loss cost, frequency/severity, and segmentation models Partner with actuarial, underwriting, and product teams to translate business requirements into models Design, deploy, and monitor production-grade ML pipelines and services Build and optimize LLM-powered applications (prompt engineering, RAG pipelines, evaluation frameworks) Contribute production code using Git (PRs, versioning, CI/CD) Ensure models meet regulatory, governance, and explainability requirements What We’re Looking For Experience: Junior through senior-level engineers (6+ years at senior level) Core Skills: Python; ML libraries (scikit-learn, XGBoost, TensorFlow, PyTorch); SQL Insurance Modeling Experience (Strong Plus): Pricing, rating, or loss modeling in P&C insurance Familiarity with GLMs, credibility theory, and model governance LLM Experience (Plus): Foundation models (OpenAI, Anthropic, open-source LLMs) RAG pipelines, embeddings, vector databases Engineering Foundations: Git, APIs, Docker, CI/CD, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) Communication: Ability to explain models to actuarial, underwriting, and technical stakeholders Why Join Work on core pricing and underwriting models that directly impact profitability Combine traditional actuarial-style modeling with modern ML and LLMs Clear role scope across junior, mid, and senior levels Competitive compensation, bonus, and comprehensive benefits To apply or learn more, connect with James Search Group — a member of our team will be in touch.
