Senior Software Engineer (Python / AI / AWS) 📍 McLean, VA | This role is remote first, however must be comfortable going in the office a few times a month 💰 up to $200 - $220k base + Equity I'm working with a well-funded AI startup building secure data platforms for some of the most demanding environments in the world. They're looking for a Senior Software Engineer to help build AI-powered applications that solve complex data sharing and automation challenges across large-scale, mission-critical systems. This is a role for someone who enjoys solving difficult engineering problems, working across the full stack, and building products where reliability and security are just as important as speed. What you'll be working on Designing and building production-grade backend services in Python Developing secure, scalable applications using FastAPI, Flask or Django Building AI-powered products and integrating modern LLM workflows Working across cloud infrastructure, APIs and distributed systems Collaborating with product and engineering on architecture and technical direction Helping shape engineering standards and mentoring other developers Tech Stack Python • FastAPI • Flask • Django • AWS • React • Next.js • TypeScript • Docker • Kubernetes What they're looking for 8+ years of software engineering experience Strong Python development experience Experience building scalable applications on AWS Comfortable working across backend systems with some frontend exposure Engineers who already use AI tools as part of their day-to-day development workflow Experience in government, defence or secure environments is a plus, but not essential Why this role?
