Senior Software Engineer – Backend Client: Abbott (Lingo) Location: Alameda, CA (100% Onsite) Employment Type: Contract Visa: Any Visa Accepted Candidate Preference: California-based candidates preferred Job Summary I am seeking a Senior Backend Software Engineer to design and develop scalable, cloud-native backend services for the Lingo digital health platform. This role focuses on building high-performance microservices, APIs, and event-driven systems that process real-time biosensor data while ensuring reliability, security, and compliance. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain backend microservices using Java and Spring Boot. Build and integrate REST APIs, event-driven services, and distributed systems using Kafka/RabbitMQ. Develop scalable and reliable cloud-based applications with a focus on performance optimization. Collaborate with Product, SRE, Data, and Machine Learning teams to deliver robust solutions. Implement security best practices, observability, and compliance requirements including HIPAA/GDPR. Troubleshoot production issues and support system reliability. Mentor junior engineers and contribute to engineering best practices. Required Skills & Qualifications 5–8 years of backend software development experience. Strong hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, and Microservices architecture. Experience working with Kafka, RabbitMQ, Kubernetes, and distributed systems. Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP. Strong understanding of secure coding practices, scalability, and performance optimization. Experience with API design, integrations, and backend architecture. Familiarity with GraphQL, gRPC, Kotlin, or Python is a plus. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field. Preferred Qualifications Experience integrating analytics or machine learning solutions. Knowledge of API gateways, Terraform, and Helm. Experience working with healthcare, IoT, digital health, or mission-critical platforms. Exposure to cloud-native development and DevOps practices.
