Description

Java Developer – Banking Technology – Linz / Innsbruck, Austria / Hybrid (Key skills: Java, Object-Oriented Software Development, Spring Boot, JPA, SQL Server, REST, Microservices, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, Jira, Confluence, Cherwell) Our client is the joint IT subsidiary of a leading Austrian banking group — three autonomous regional banks operating across Austria and neighbouring countries, serving 280 branches and processing billions of online transactions a year. With a 370-strong IT team spread across three locations, they're now looking for a Java Developer to join a young, motivated and collaborative team, based in either Linz or Innsbruck. You'll work on exciting IT projects within a banking environment, using established project and ticketing tools such as Jira, Confluence and Cherwell as part of your day-to-day workflow. This is a team that values initiative and independent thinking just as much as strong collaboration — you'll have real input into how things get built, not just a ticket queue to work through. What you'll bring: IT training (IT-HTL, computer science degree, or corresponding practical experience) Several years' experience in object-oriented software development, ideally in Java Comfort working with standard project and ticketing tools (Jira, Confluence, Cherwell or similar) Initiative, independence, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team Nice to have (advantageous, not required): Backend development and database experience — Java, Spring Boot, JPA, SQL Server Experience with REST, microservices, and container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and modern deployment practices What's on offer: Hybrid working: two remote days per week, plus flexible hours On-site dining: subsidised company restaurant Commuter support: partial reimbursement of public transport costs Genuine investment in development: individual training and career development opportunities Team culture: regular social events — outings, Christmas parties, anniversaries, ski days Extras: preferential banking/partner conditions, company mobile phone if desired, and location-specific perks including childcare and parking Location: Linz or Innsbruck, Austria (Hybrid — 2 days remote per week) Salary: €45,000 - €70,000 + Bonus + Benefits Applicants must have the right to work in Austria and good German language skills (minimum C1).
