We're looking to build our capability in front-end development, supporting delivery across multiple client engagements and internal projects that leverage modern JavaScript frameworks and cloud-based architectures. Roles of this type sit within collaborative, distributed teams where you would work alongside backend engineers, architects and product stakeholders. You could contribute to projects spanning microservices architectures, cloud infrastructure (Azure, AWS, GCP) and enterprise systems integration, with exposure to Agile delivery practices and modern DevOps toolchains. Typical Role Overview Location: Manchester, Leeds, Bristol or nationwide (UK-based) Type: Contract Full-time Work model: Hybrid Day rate: £600–800 per day (dependent on experience and location) Contract type: Fixed-term contract Experience required: 5–10 years What You Would Do Typical responsibilities could include: Building and maintaining responsive user interfaces using React and modern JavaScript Collaborating with backend engineers to integrate APIs and microservices Contributing to front-end architecture decisions and code quality standards Writing clean, testable code and participating in peer review Working within Agile teams to deliver features iteratively Troubleshooting and optimizing application performance Supporting deployment pipelines and CI/CD practices where relevant to front-end delivery What You Could Bring Most roles of this type require the following: Must-have 5–10 years' software development experience, with strong React proficiency Solid JavaScript fundamentals and working knowledge of modern ES6+ patterns Experience building web applications in team environments Familiarity with version control (Git) and collaborative development workflows Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience Right to work in the United Kingdom Nice-to-have Experience with Next.js or similar React frameworks Exposure to Agile methodologies and sprint-based delivery Knowledge of APIs, microservices or cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) Certifications such as Meta Front-End Developer Certificate, JavaScript Certification (JSE), or freeCodeCamp Front End Libraries Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes or infrastructure-as-code tools Excel proficiency for data management or reporting What Roles Of This Type Could Offer Most roles of this type offer the following, dependent on the industry and seniority of the role: Exposure to modern front-end development practices and emerging technologies Opportunity to work across diverse client engagements and problem domains Potential for progression toward lead or senior developer roles, where supported by performance and capability Flexible, hybrid working arrangements with remote flexibility Competitive day rate reflective of experience and market rates 20+ days' paid time off per year Pension contribution and flexible compensation options Ongoing professional development opportunities in line with industry trends About SThree SThree is the global STEM workforce consultancy.
