Data Engineer Location: McLean, Virginia, USA Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent Workplace: On-site Salary: $102,000 - $170,000 per annum Are you an experienced Data Engineer looking to work on cutting-edge cloud technologies, enterprise-scale data platforms and mission-critical digital transformation programmes? An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a leading technology consulting organisation delivering innovative data engineering solutions for large-scale public sector and enterprise projects. You'll work alongside highly skilled engineers, architects and data professionals, helping to build secure, scalable and cloud-native data platforms. The Role As a Data Engineer, you'll play a key role in designing, developing and optimising cloud-based data solutions that power analytics, reporting and business-critical applications. Key responsibilities include: Design, build and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL processes. Develop cloud-native data engineering solutions using AWS and Azure services. Design and optimise data architectures and models for analytics and operational reporting. Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for data engineering workflows. Integrate data from multiple platforms, APIs and enterprise systems. Collaborate with software engineers, database administrators and solution architects. Support cloud migration and large-scale data modernisation initiatives. Monitor data quality, performance, security and system reliability. Troubleshoot production issues and implement continuous improvements. Document technical solutions and promote engineering best practices across the team. About You You'll be an experienced Data Engineer who enjoys working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and has a passion for building modern cloud-based data solutions. You'll ideally have: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related discipline. Minimum of 8 years' experience in Data Engineering, Software Development or a related technical role. Strong programming skills in Python, Java, SQL and PySpark . Extensive experience designing and developing ETL pipelines. Hands-on experience with AWS , including S3, Redshift, Lambda, ECS and SQS. Experience working with Databricks and large-scale data processing platforms. Strong knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases including Oracle, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MySQL and MongoDB. Experience with Docker, Kubernetes and containerised environments. Familiarity with CI/CD tools including Jenkins, Maven, Git and GitHub. Experience working within Agile delivery environments. Excellent analytical, troubleshooting and communication skills. Desirable Experience supporting government or large-scale public sector programmes. AWS or cloud engineering certifications. Experience with Tableau, Kibana or similar visualisation tools. Knowledge of AI/ML integration and microservices architecture. Previous consulting experience.
