The Opportunity We're looking for an experienced Lead Front End Developer to join one of our key UK Central Government programmes. This is an exciting opportunity to lead the development of accessible, user-centred digital services while mentoring engineers, driving frontend best practice, and working closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality solutions. You'll play a key role in shaping technical direction, supporting delivery, and ensuring modern engineering standards are embedded throughout the development lifecycle. What You'll Be Doing Leading frontend development across secure government digital services Building responsive, accessible, and user-focused web applications Mentoring developers and promoting engineering best practices Collaborating with Product Managers, Business Analysts, Designers, and Technical Architects Developing reusable frontend components and templating solutions Supporting CI/CD practices and maintaining high code quality Working within agile multidisciplinary teams to deliver impactful public services Tech Stack Frontend: HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, ReactJS, Node.js Templating & Styling: Nunjucks, Freemarker, Bootstrap, LESS, SASS CI/CD & Tooling: Git, GitLab CI, Jenkins, SonarQube Backend Exposure: Java 11, Spring Boot, Dropwizard, Jersey, CXF, Maven Desirable: AWS What We're Looking For Strong experience leading frontend development teams Excellent knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, ReactJS, and Node.js Experience with frontend templating frameworks such as Nunjucks and/or Freemarker Strong understanding of responsive design, accessibility, and modern frontend development practices Experience working with CI/CD tooling including Git, GitLab CI, Jenkins, and SonarQube Exposure to Java backend technologies including Spring Boot and Maven Experience working within Agile delivery teams Desirable: Experience working with AWS Previous experience delivering projects within UK Central Government Eligible for BPSS clearance Why Amber Labs?
