The Role 🧠 We are looking for a Backend Engineer to join our distributed team in the European timezone and help build our real-time computer vision data platform. You will develop new features, solve genuinely hard engineering challenges across our data pipeline, and raise the quality of our product through solid coding. This is a fast-paced environment where you'll own real problems end-to-end — we value engineers who are proactive, autonomous, and able to pick things up and adapt as we grow, helping us scale sustainably on a strong technical foundation. What You'll Do: Feature Development: Design, build, and maintain backend services and APIs primarily in Python (FastAPI/FastStream). Data Pipeline Engineering: Solve engineering challenges across our real-time data pipeline and distributed microservices architecture. End-to-End Ownership: Take features from prototype to production, optimizing for scale, speed, and reliability. Performance Optimization: Troubleshoot bottlenecks, debug production issues, and ensure systems run smoothly 24/7 at global scale. Continuous Improvement: Participate in code reviews and help shape a culture of quality and technical excellence. What You Bring to the Table (Requirements): Location: Must be located in and working within a European time zone (e.g., GMT, CET, EET). Programming Mastery: Deep expertise in Python, with strong hands-on experience in FastAPI. Architecture: Solid understanding of microservices and distributed systems. Data & Storage: Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL / MySQL) and key-value stores (Redis). Messaging: Familiarity with message brokers such as Kafka and RabbitMQ. Infrastructure: Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform and AWS. Production Knowledge: Proven ability to deploy and maintain reliable services in production, comfortable working in Linux with Git/GitHub.
