Senior/Staff Software Engineer — AI-Native FinTech Platform Remote (US) | $150K–$350K + equity I'm hiring a Senior or Staff Software Engineer for a fast-growing, AI-native FinTech startup that's rebuilding infrastructure for one of the largest and most antiquated industries in the U.S . The problem you'd help solve : A multi-trillion-dollar industry is still running on 20-year-old software. The human cost to process a single transaction is over $11,000. My client is automating that end-to-end — and has already processed >$85B since 2020. You'd be building the AI agents and backend infrastructure at the core of that automation. Multi-step, mission-critical systems — not chatbots. This role isn't advisory . You'll ship code on day one, own systems end-to-end, and drive architectural decisions. The hardest, most ambiguous problems land with you. You'll likely be a fit if you have: Currently operating at Senior or Staff level (L5/L6 equivalent) — you've owned complex systems end-to-end, driven technical direction, and mentored engineers Came up through a high-growth, VC-backed tech startup or FAANG — software was the product, not a support function Deep, hands-on TypeScript — complex systems you've personally built, on your resume, recently Production experience with React, Node/Express, GraphQL/Apollo, Postgres, AWS, and Terraform for scaling distributed systems Long tenure at companies — you've gone deep, not hopped around Still writing production code — this is not an architect-only role Nice to have: Experience with modern AI product development: evals, experiment design, dataset curation SRE mindset — observable, low-toil, reliable infra Complex relational DB schema design at scale FinTech background Active GitHub, side projects What you won't find here: This role won't suit you if you're coming from a large financial institution, looking for a relaxed pace, or haven't been consistently employed and shipping recently.
