Java backend developer

Position Purpose As a Java Developer , you will design, develop and maintain robust backend solutions while actively contributing to cloud‑migration and modernization programmes. You will participate in all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) within Agile teams, delivering high‑quality, secure and scalable services that meet business requirements. The role also incorporates the use of AI‑assisted development tools to boost productivity, code quality, and delivery efficiency, in full compliance with BNP Paribas standards. Key Responsibilities Core Responsibilities #Responsibility 1 Design, develop, test and maintain Java‑based applications (Java SE/EE, Spring ecosystem). 2 Participate in all Agile ceremonies – sprint planning, daily stand‑up, review and retrospective – and deliver incrementally. 3 Ensure code quality through peer reviews, unit/integration testing and comprehensive documentation. 4 Provide 2nd‑level support for production incidents and drive root‑cause analysis. 5 Design, implement and expose RESTful APIs and micro‑services. 6 Contribute to cloud migration, containerisation and micro‑services modernization initiatives. Additional / Collaborative Responsibilities 1 Work closely with international teams (e.g., partners in Germany) to align on architecture and delivery. 2 Share knowledge, mentor junior team members and promote best‑practice adoption. 3 Participate in continuous‑improvement activities for development processes and toolchains. 4 Leverage AI‑assisted tools for coding, testing and documentation while ensuring responsible use. 5 Adhere to security, governance and development standards defined by BNP Paribas. Experience & Qualifications Requirement Detail Professional Experience Minimum 6 years of Java development experience, including JEE projects and exposure to cloud or micro‑services environments. Methodology Proven experience working in Agile (Scrum/Kanban) delivery models. Language Fluent English – both written and spoken (mandatory). Education Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
