🚀 We're looking for a Senior Python Backend Developer – APIs & Data Integration (Lisbon) Who We're Looking For We are looking for a Senior Python Backend Developer to join a dedicated development team working on the evolution of third-party data ecosystems, with a strong focus on APIs, data virtualization, microservices and real-time data integration . The role involves designing, developing and maintaining scalable backend solutions, working closely with Business Analysts, Solution Architects and other stakeholders to translate functional and technical requirements into high-quality applications and integrations. The Developer will contribute to the full software development lifecycle, from technical design and coding to testing, deployment and continuous improvement, ensuring compliance with quality, security and development best practices . ✅ Professional Experience & Main Tasks Design, develop and maintain scalable and secure backend architectures . Develop and maintain APIs, microservices and event-driven integrations supporting business processes and data exchanges. Translate functional and technical requirements into reliable and maintainable software solutions. Develop and test software components in compliance with development and security standards . Contribute to the design and implementation of solutions, ensuring code quality, scalability and maintainability . Implement unit and integration testing and support Functional Testing and User Acceptance Testing (UAT). Analyse and resolve defects and technical issues throughout the development lifecycle. Contribute to CI/CD industrialisation and deployment processes . Participate in code reviews and apply software engineering best practices. Collaborate with Business Analysts, Solution Architects and other stakeholders throughout projects and application maintenance activities. Support the continuous improvement, reliability and evolution of IT solutions. ✅ Skills & Experience Strong experience in Python development , including frameworks such as FastAPI and Flask . Strong knowledge of API design, RESTful services and microservices architectures . Experience with unit and integration testing , using frameworks such as PyTest or Unittest . Advanced SQL skills, including database design and optimisation; PostgreSQL is a plus. Strong knowledge of software engineering best practices , including CI/CD, Git workflows, code reviews, clean architecture, design patterns, testing and observability. Experience with cloud environments , such as AWS or IBM Cloud. Experience with Docker and containerisation . Experience working in Agile/DevOps environments . Familiarity with tools such as Jira, Confluence, Git and ALM/Octane . Knowledge of data integration, data virtualization or event-driven architectures is a plus. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Good communication and teamwork skills. Ability to understand functional requirements and collaborate effectively with business and technical stakeholders.
