Description

About YapCash YapCash is building the rewards layer for AI. We created a free Chrome extension that pays people in real gift cards, Amazon, Apple, Starbucks for their daily ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Perplexity usage. No surveys. No behavior change. Just chat like you already do and earn. The product is live. Real users are earning XP, opening packs, and redeeming gift cards. The backend is running on Supabase, gift card fulfillment goes through Tremendous, and the extension is live on the Chrome Web Store. This is not a prototype, it's a working product with real users and real money moving through it. We're a small, fast-moving team operating under Quikscope Inc. out of Florida. We're now hiring our second technical hire to own the technical roadmap as we scale from hundreds of users to hundreds of thousands. The Role This is a full-ownership engineering role. You'll be the second technical hire, working directly with the founder to extend and scale a product that's already in production. You'll own the Chrome extension, the Supabase backend, the upcoming VS Code extension, and the web dashboard. We're not looking for someone to architect a greenfield system. The core is built and working well — a sophisticated XP economy with server-enforced prize logic, dual XP currencies, streak mechanics, pack draws, a referral system, and Google OAuth. Your job is to read that codebase quickly, understand why decisions were made, and extend it confidently without breaking what's already working. You'll also own new surface areas entirely most notably the VS Code extension, which is the next major platform expansion and is currently unbuilt. What We're Looking For Must Have You've shipped a browser extension before — Chrome or Firefox, Manifest V2 or V3. You understand content scripts, service workers, message passing, and the Chrome APIs. Strong PostgreSQL — you write complex views, understand window functions, know the difference between SECURITY DEFINER and SECURITY INVOKER, and can reason about RLS policies You think about security by default — in a product that moves real money, server-side authority over financial logic isn't optional You can read an unfamiliar codebase and understand it quickly — our background.js is 2,100 lines and you'll need to be productive in it fast You ship working software. Not perfect software. Working software. Then you improve it. Nice to Have VS Code extension development experience (TypeScript, vscode API, webview panels) Supabase in production — Edge Functions, real-time subscriptions, RPC design Experience with Chrome Web Store submission and policy compliance TypeScript — we're not using it in the current extension but the VS Code extension will be TypeScript React / Next.js for the web dashboard work Familiarity with Tremendous or similar reward fulfillment APIs Compensation & Benefits Equity:  Meaningful early-stage equity. Base salary:  $85,000 — $110,000 + equity Remote:  Work from anywhere. Async-friendly. We care about what ships, not when you're online. Direct impact:  Every line of code you write is in production. No backlog grooming ceremonies, no sprint planning theater. Early access:  Full access to every YapCash feature including Season 1 and the VS Code extension before they go public. How to Apply Step 1:  Install YapCash and use it — ideally open the Chrome DevTools and poke around while you're at it. chromewebstore.google.com/detail/mcfanhenfbmjakpnokkkhoidceeobigf Step 2:  Email [email protected] with the subject line:  Product Development Specialist Application Include: A browser extension, Supabase project, or web app you've shipped — link or description with what you built and what was technically interesting about it Your honest read on the biggest technical risk in a product like YapCash — what would you fix first and why Any questions about the stack you'd want answered before deciding whether to apply — we'd rather answer them upfront Applications without all three will not be reviewed. We're not interested in generic cover letters. We're interested in how you think about technical problems. YapCash is an equal opportunity employer. We're building for everyone who uses AI, and we want a team that reflects that. yapcash.ai  | [email protected]
