Description

Posting Type Hybrid Job Overview WHO WE ARE Relativity is a leading legal data intelligence company building technology that helps users organize data, discover the truth, and act on it with confidence. Our AI-powered, cloud platform, RelativityOne, transforms massive volumes of complex information into actionable insights for litigation, investigations, regulatory inquiries, data breach responses, and other high-stakes legal work where accuracy and trust are crucial. The world’s largest law firms, corporations and government agencies rely on Relativity’s legal AI software to securely surface and manage the most relevant and impactful information in their matters. Beyond our commercial impact, we’re deeply committed to expanding access to technology for academic institutions through Relativity Academic and supporting pro bono legal work through Justice for Change. What We Do At Relativity, engineers don’t just write code — they harness AI tools to architect, optimize, and deliver scalable software faster and shape the future of legal technology. They shape how industries uncover critical insights, ensure compliance, advance access to justice and continuously evolve our platform using the latest technologies, including cloud-native architectures, AI capabilities, and modern developer tooling. Our AI powers privacy programs, identifies confidential information, and detects language indicating misconduct. We’re reimagining how legal professionals uncover truth at scale, and engineering is at the heart of that transformation. This role sits in the Engineering Platform team, which builds the shared frontend infrastructure, frontend frameworks, and design-system integration that Relativity’s product teams build on. As a Lead Frontend Engineer, you’ll drive the direction of our frontend architecture, lead the implementation of shared frontend frameworks and our Micro Frontend strategy, and mentor engineers while solving complex frontend challenges at scale. Your leadership directly enables hundreds of engineers to move faster and build better. If you’re passionate about solving hard problems, designing for scale, and building tools that matter — while working in a culture that values transparency, innovation, and shared success — Relativity offers the opportunity to make a measurable difference in the marketplace. Job Description And Requirements WHAT YOU’LL DO Lead the design, development, and operation of scalable, secure, shared frontend infrastructure powering a cloud-native platform that processes petabytes of data weekly, contributing directly to implementation and guiding the team’s execution. Provide clear technical direction across the frontend stack — architecture, shared frontend frameworks, and design-system integration — collaborating with team, Staff, and Principal Engineers on system design. Collaborate daily with a diverse group of teammates and product partners to solve problems, achieve shared goals, and build AI-powered legal data solutions that operate at massive scale. Mentor engineers and lead through technical expertise, collaboration, and sound engineering judgment. Establish and evolve engineering standards through design and code reviews, patterns, best practices, and coaching. Align team execution with product strategy and delivery commitments, identifying and removing technical friction. Lead service ownership across the team by driving reliability efforts, on-call practices, incident response, resolution, and root cause analysis. Set and communicate the technical vision for frontend architecture across platform teams, and lead the development of shared frontend infrastructure, design-system components, and Micro Frontend integration strategies using React, TypeScript, and PrimeReact — in partnership with Staff and Principal Engineers, product, UX, and engineering leadership. Guide the team on accessibility (WCAG), performance (lazy loading, code splitting, asset optimization, telemetry), test automation (unit, integration, and end-to-end with Jest, Cypress, or Playwright), and maintainability, and evolve CI/CD workflows, component versioning strategies, and documentation. Lead initiatives exploring AI-enhanced UI/UX — smart component behavior, generative layout patterns, and adaptive interfaces — and grow technical leadership within the team through architectural reviews, pair programming, mentoring, and hands-on development. Required WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR 7+ years of professional frontend development experience building and operating cloud-native systems, including 2+ years in a technical leadership or lead engineer role. Proven ability to set technical direction and lead teams effectively. Hands-on experience designing and building distributed, multi-tenant systems. Ownership of CI/CD, observability, and service reliability. Strong product and systems thinking, balancing delivery speed with long-term sustainability. Excellent communication, collaboration, and technical leadership skills. Advanced proficiency in JavaScript (ES6+), TypeScript, and React, with deep experience building and managing shared design systems and implementing Micro Frontend architectures or modular UI strategies in large-scale systems. Strong command of semantic HTML, modern CSS and pre-processors (SASS/LESS), responsive design, accessibility standards (WCAG), frontend performance profiling, and cross-browser testing, with hands-on experience in CI/CD pipelines, bundlers (e.g., Vite, Webpack), testing frameworks, and RESTful/GraphQL APIs. Preferred Prior people-lead or technical-lead experience. Experience in regulated or large-scale environments. Familiarity with AI-development tools like GitHub Copilot, Cursor or Claude Code. Experience working in global or highly distributed organizations. Background in .NET or other backend technologies (Node.js, Python) to enable effective cross-stack collaboration. Understanding of UX principles and the ability to contribute to design-system governance and design-technical alignment, including familiarity with design and prototyping tools such as Figma. Experience with AI-driven UI/UX, including chatbot integration, recommendation engines, personalization, or adaptive layouts. WHY WE COULD BE A GREAT FIT Impactful Mission Build systems that help customers organize data, discover the truth, and act on it in high-stakes legal matters. Engineering at Scale Work on distributed, cloud-native systems that process large volumes of data. Cutting-Edge Technology Build with AI, cloud platforms, and scalable architectures shaping legal tech. Growth and Ownership Gain experience owning systems end-to-end across cloud and distributed environments. Collaborative Culture Work in a team focused on knowledge sharing and continuous improvement. Inclusive Environment Diverse perspectives create stronger teams and better outcomes. Compensation And Benefits Competitive salary, benefits, DTO, parental leave, and equity program.
