Backend Java Developer

Job Overview Plan A Technologies is looking for a Backend Java Develop er to design, develop and maintain backend services powering our hospitality platform. The role focuses on scalable APIs, event-driven integrations and IoT connectivity while working closely with cross-functional engineering teams. Please note: you must have at least 5+ years of experience with Java to be considered for this role. JOB RESPONSIBILITY Design, develop and maintain backend services using Java and Spring Boot. Design and maintain RESTful APIs and service integrations. Implement event-driven messaging using MQTT and Kafka. Collaborate with frontend, QA, Product and infrastructure teams. Support IoT integrations with Raspberry Pi-based devices. Troubleshoot distributed systems and optimize performance, reliability and security. Contribute to architecture discussions, code reviews and continuous improvement. Experience BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience. 5+ years of backend software development experience with strong proficiency in Java and Spring Boot. Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs. Experience with MQTT messaging is required. Experience with Kafka or other event-streaming platforms. Experience with Docker and Linux environments. Experience developing solutions for hospitality, IoT or connected-device environments is highly desirable. Strong analytical, communication and problem-solving skills. Willingness to travel to Macau on a weekly basis as required. Excellent verbal and written English communication skills. Initiative and drive to do great things.
