Python Developer 1 year Contract to Hire New York City Onsite Monday-Thursday About the Opportunity Our client is a private investment firm operating across multiple asset classes, primarily focused on fund-to-fund exchanges. They are seeking a Python Developer to join a collaborative technology team responsible for supporting and enhancing critical business applications, data processes, and analytics solutions. This is an excellent opportunity for a developer who enjoys working at the intersection of technology and finance and wants exposure to a variety of business functions, including Risk, Finance, and Operations. Responsibilities Develop and maintain Python-based applications and services. Build and support data pipelines, real-time data feeds, and REST API integrations. Work with large datasets using Pandas and DataFrames. Develop SQL queries and support data management initiatives. Assist with projection modeling and financial data analysis. Provide support for overnight business-critical processes and troubleshoot production issues as needed. Monitor system events and participate in issue resolution efforts. Collaborate with Risk, Finance, Operations, and Technology teams on new initiatives and enhancements. Contribute to backend system improvements, migrations, and ongoing technical projects. Help improve the stability, efficiency, and scalability of existing solutions. Required Qualifications 3-6 years of professional software development experience. Strong Python development skills. Hands-on experience with Pandas and DataFrames. Experience writing and optimizing SQL queries. Understanding of data pipelines and real-time data processing. Experience working with REST APIs. Exposure to financial services or financial data. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience with NumPy. Working knowledge of Excel. Exposure to the Flask framework. Experience supporting production systems and troubleshooting operational issues. What to Expect The initial focus of this role will be supporting the firm's overnight suite of processes, providing visibility into the full technology and business landscape while gaining hands-on experience with existing systems. As the individual becomes familiar with the environment, they will transition into more technical and project-focused work, including analytics initiatives for the Risk team, backend system enhancements, and broader technology-driven business projects.
